PYRFER : PYRÉNÉES DU FER. NETWORK OF IRON-PRODUCING COMMUNITIES FOR A MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL TOURISM STRATEGY BASED ON HERITAGE AND SUSTAINABILITY IN THE PYRÉNÉES.

Main objective of the project:

Promoting the tangible and intangible heritage linked to iron in the POCTEFA area, through networking between municipalities with expertise in understanding, preserving, and passing on this heritage. The exchange of techniques, experiences, and best practices among PYRFER members, applied to the principles of the CETS, should strengthen coordinated interventions and support for the development of a cross-border tourism and sustainability strategy as a driver of competitiveness.

Expected project results:

The end result of PYRFER is the consolidation of a network of municipalities specializing in promoting metallurgical heritage in a way that is sustainable for tourism and actively participates in the development and implementation of a common heritage strategy throughout the POCTEFA territory (tourism product).

The project was 65% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra Program (POCTEFA 2014-2020).
