The Devil's Bridge Ariège

TheDevil's Bridge

In Ariège, it is said that the locals had this bridge built by the Devil, who demanded to be paid with the soul of the first person to cross it. The elders knew how to do business: they sent a cat across! But history tells us that in the 19th century, it was built by an engineer from the prestigious École Polytechnique. Whether you prefer the story of Beelzebub or the brilliant engineer, the Ariège gorges offer visitors superb views of the riverbanks.
